The fact that a believer is happier than a skeptic is no more to the point than the fact that a drunken man is happier than a sober one. — George Bernard Shaw

I always said I would never have a job in which I would have to live in a cubicle. But $22/hour makes people change their mind ... especially when one is a poor college student and is working for one of the biggest scientific companies in the world. Everyone that works there looks at me weird because the average age is 50. It's a funny and entertaining place to work though, I always get stuck with the ridiculous crazy cuban ladies.

Americana Chic
This article in the Feb 9 Newsweek magazine caught my eye. I find that this applies not only to men but also women's current style and contemporary way of thinking. I see myself falling into the Americana trend as well. The yearning for American made clothing and style has brought "globalization full circle".
"For the foreigners who instigated the fad, sturdy American gear has long evoked a distant, idealized culture. As a child, Suzuki would watch "The Graduate" and obsess over Dustin Hoffman's parka and Jack Purcells. "Americana represented a new, almost utopian viewpoint for me," he says. With the recent decline in our security, industry and standing, that nostalgia for a prelapsarian America (and the durable domestic goods that defined it) seems to have settled over the stylish set here at home. "Ironically, it's largely because of overseas interest that Americans can now wear real American stuff".
"They're recognizing that heritage and quality are precious in our disposable Wal-Mart world."

Writing a "To Do" list is very psychological. Saying you're going to do something is very different from writing it down.

Ann Coulter is evil
Here are some of Ann Coulter's memorable moments... how is this woman allowed to speak?!
her post 9/11 foreign policy: “We should invade [middle eastern] countries, kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity.” [Syndicated column, 9/12/01].
her post 9/11 foreign policy: “We should invade [middle eastern] countries, kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity.” [Syndicated column, 9/12/01].
Her thoughts on female voters:
“If we took away women’s right to vote, we’d never have to worry about another Democrat president. It’s kind of a pipe dream, it’s a personal fantasy of mine, but I don’t think it’s going to happen… The Democratic Party ought to be hanging its head in shame, that it has so much difficulty getting men to vote for it. I mean, you do see it’s the party of women and ‘We’ll pay for health care and tuition and day care — and here, what else can we give you, soccer moms?’” [October 2007, Interview with The New York Observer]
Anyway, enough of that ...
so my Western Blot came out awesome, and it was great seeing my friends this weekend. I can't wait to move to NJ where i can get my real science on.

I don't feel like studying
This is something different than what I normally read (maybe that's why it is taking me so long): The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath. I thought I should get into her poetry after I saw the movie Sylvia, because her sad, young life made me want to know more about her inner thoughts. It is amazing to me how a girl of 19 years could write and think like a 50 year old philosopher. It makes me feel dumb.
Anyway, I really don't want to study for Neuroanatomy, because I really hate that class ... it's not like I am going to be a medical doctor or a dentist, geez.
By the way, I love those Mormons!

update
It's been a while, but I am sick and tired of my hair so these are my ideas...
keeping the color the same. And when I move away, I will opt for a more dramatic look when I have the funds to keep it up of course.
I am in higher spirits lately due to the new lab and research I am working on. The relaxed environment really makes me feel like I am at home. Hopefully I can start getting paid soon ... I NEED MONEY!
